Playable pieces for students in their first and second year of study. 'Wetterbilder' ('Weather Scenes') are designed to provide material for individual and group lessons and performances on various instruments, with a focus on older primary school children.

The pieces can also be seen as the starting-point for creative interpretation including improvisation, additional voices, lyrics, dance routines, etc. etc.—everything and anything goes! No fingerings or dynamics, etc. are included, to keep the music usable for any kind of teaching situation. Tempo markings are also provided as guidance only. The recorder part can be played by any C melody instrument, and the harp part can also be played using a keyboard instrument.

The harp part makes use of simple basic techniques such as fifths, with occasional glissandi and arpeggios. Both hands are also notated in the treble clef to make part reading easier for beginners. All pieces can be played on harps with 20 strings and no levers; the Fs need to be re-tuned to F#s for some pieces.

Three of the pieces in this book are very special indeed: they were written together with Kristine's 9-year-old student Katharina Oehler. After just six months of learning the flute, Katharina discovered a passion for writing her own compositions. So they decided to take Katharina's melodies, add a harp accompaniment and include them in this new book. Music by children, for children, you can't really get more authentic than that!
