This album is written for beginners who wish to play together The melodies can be played on recorder, flute, clarinet-Bb and violin. The accompaniment is written for the non-pedal harp. It is up to the performers to decide whether a melody suitable for the instrument they play. With so many different instruments it is not easy to satisfy them all the time.
This music is small collection from the inexhaustible supply of folk music from South Bohemia, South East Moravia and Slovakia which now form part of modern Czecho-Slovakia.
The most popular instruments in those countries are the clarinet, the bagpipes, the violin and the cymbalon. Also the non-pedal harp was a much-used instrument as can be seen in old pictures.
