Petite Suite was published in 1889 for 4 hand piano. In 1907 it was orchestrated by Henri BÜSSER and later that year this version was performed at Lamoureux and was an instant success and has retained its popularity to this day.

Petite Suite was published in 1889 as a suite for Piano four hands. It has been transcribed many times, most notably in an orchestral version by Debussy's colleague Henri Büsser. This piece has allways has great succes with the audience.

The work, which lasts about 13 minutes in performance, has four movements:

1. En bateau (Sailing):

Dreamweaver is a fast-flowing mesmeric piece which builds to a climax at the centre then diminishes again to the end.

The dream is woven by the Harp 4 player, who has the honour of being "The Weaver"; the 8-bar motifs in the two "Dreamer" parts twine themselves around each other while the "Sleepwalker" (an easier part) wanders between them.

Stephen Dunstone's original composition “Harpy Ever After” is a jazzy, 12-bar blues for six lever or pedal harps. Each part represents one of six intertwining, recurring motifs from “First Tune” (Harp 1), which is very easy, to “Supergroove” (Harp 6), which is fast, varied, and with occasional lever or pedal slides. An extra “motifs only” part includes all the motifs

Pink Bird can be played as written in the score by four players of equal skill (or more) who all take turns playing the different melodies and harmony lines. To simplify it, a player can also repeat only the melody, counter-melody or harmony.

The contents include parts for harps A, B, C, and D, as in the score, as well as separate parts for melody, countermelody, and harmony.

Snakes Alive is written for a workshop. The idea was to create a really slinky, bluesy piece that was relatively easy to play for not-very-advanced harpists, but still gave all the players something to get their teeth into.

The accompanimental music in all the parts is technically very easy, mostly, though still requires a modicum of concentration, a feel for the swung rhythm, and an ability to click

This arrangement for 4 parts harp ensemble sounds like a jazzy variation / improvisation on the well-known theme of 'House of the Rising Sun'. The piece sounds lik it has 3 parts, but part 1 is split into "Harp 1A" and "Harp 1B". The melody is niftily passed back and forth between the top two parts throughout the piece, effectively making them both Harp 1.

Stephen Dunstone's lively and rhythmic "Tubby's Tango" is a four-part piece for an ensemble of lever or pedal harps. The piece sounds even better with the addition of maracas, claves and tambourine.
