This album contains songs from Ireland and Wales. It comprises traditional harp music, gathered from old collections and re-arranged for the Irish harp. Some of these songs are famous, like "David of the White Rock", that was usually played at the funeral of a bard. Six pieces of well-known composers wrote their music with no particular instrument in mind. However, the music is very suitable for the harp.

This album is written for beginners who wish to play together The melodies can be played on recorder, flute, clarinet-Bb and violin. The accompaniment is written for the non-pedal harp. It is up to the performers to decide whether a melody suitable for the instrument they play. With so many different instruments it is not easy to satisfy them all the time.

The melodies in this album of 'Songs for Strings' are particularly suitable for violin, viola and cello with harp accompaniment.
The music can also be played on other instruments such as recorders, flute and B-flat clarinet, for which parts are included.
The pieces are based on melodies from Eastern European, Israelian and Dutch song books.

Great harp I needed a harp that was easy on my hands. Other Dusty models had a rich sound that I loved, but my hands hurt after playing for a while. The Serrana sounds fantastic amplified, and is easy for this senior to transport to gigs.
