The Clair De Lune Book
Claude Debussy's Clair de Lune from his piano work Suite Bergamasque from 1905 is one of the most well-known classical works by the general public.
The book contains a pedal harp solo, lever harp solo, an instrumental part for flute or violin and an accompanying harp part for pedal harp and an accompanying harp part for lever harp.
Debussy's original Clair de Lune is written in the key of D-flat. Because this key is not friendly to lever harp players and less attractive to intermediate level instrumentalists, it has been adapted to the key of D major in this book.
In doing so, the harmonic integrity and overall "feel" of the original piano work has been preserved as much as possible. To make these arrangements more readable and playable, several difficult passages have been simplified.
Pedal and lever changes are clearly marked. Dynamic markings, fingerings, metronome markings, 8va indications, instructions, and flute breath marks are provided. However, the musicians should use whichever expressive markings suit them, no matter what this book indicates!
