Manx music for the harp vol. 2
The second volume of Claasagh. Harp arrangements of tradiotinal and new Manx tunes. Inspirational as a composer, performer and teacher, her arrangements have the uncanny ability to reveal the subtleties of Manx music for everyone, to shape a sense of something new and old at the same time.
Since the first volume of Claasagh was published, Manx traditional music has well and truly made its mark at festivals around the world, shining out as something bright and different. And like any tradition worth its salt, Manx music is an ever-changing feast - new tunes and songs are written, old fragments are repaired and extended, the tension between conservatism and innovation effectively holding the tradition together. In short, a good tune is a good tune in the Isle of Man, no matter who wrote it, no matter when it was penned. Claasagh 2 celebrates the vibrancy of the Manx tradition, with its careful selection of dance tunes, songs and airs, new and old.
