This particular zeybek is anonymous. Made of two phrases, it is through-composed. The Companion CD will assist harp players learning the pieces in these books. Since many of you will want to "play along" as you are learning, Sylvia has recorded most of the pieces slower than they are usually played, and as "straight" as possible, with little or no expression or rhythmic variations. In the books each piece has two arrangements: (A) an easy version, and (B) one that is more difficult. On these recordings Sylvia plays the "B" versions. Since the two versions can be played as a duet, you can play either version along with the recording. The pieces are in the same order as in the books, with the Christmas pieces first, and then the Chanukah ones.€12.50

I composed Nikriz Saz Semaisi in 2013 and dedicated it to the memory of my colleague and dear friend Ceren Necipoğlu. I have always felt the nikriz makam has something ethereal which brings about restfulness and peace, a feature far removed from its widely recognized potential for inducing feelings of heroism. An Old Postcard is an uncomplicated waltz. It takes its inspiration from simple, small scale piano walzes.
It pays homage to an era in Turkish history when a taste for Western musical styles was developed in the late Ottoman era. Pianos were abundant in the country and the performance of Western music repertoire of this nature was quite a familiar thing in metropolitan households.€14.95
