Crossing the bar
Another enchanting work by Rhett Barnwell.
Sensitive music, based on a poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson about the transition from 'the river of life' to the 'open sea'. In this way the poet symbolizes his own mortality, with which he was harshly confronted by a serious illness.
Impressive is the deep emotion that Rhett manages to achieve through the simplest harmonic and melodic means, without any sentimentality. The expert tuning of the rise and fall of the vocal line is very similar to Mozart's arias.
